From Mountain Cricket Chalet to Gondola lift

Starting Point: The door of Mountain Cricket Chalet.

The route begins with a gentle ascent along a stone road, primarily used by local vehicles in the summer to reach nearby restaurants and cafés at the top of the gondola and other lifts.

Running uphill is easy and smooth, with an average elevation gain of 50 meters per kilometer, making it comfortable for regular training. The only challenge is the elevation itself; the starting point is at 2,200 meters above sea level, finishing at approximately 2,700 meters. The total climb to the Sadzeli lift is about 500 meters.

The path is smooth, easy, and safe, but it can become more challenging if you venture off the road to climb directly up the hills.

Descending from the Sadzeli lift back to the chalet is also a great opportunity to practice your downhill running skills. You can choose to run directly through the hills or grass instead of the stone road. The softer surface makes the descent less harsh on your knees and feet.

Feel free to bring your dog along (if you have one) or adopt a local one; there are plenty around, and they’ll be more than happy to join you for a run!
Route Itinerary:

  • Distance: 10 km
  • Surface: Stone road or grassy hills with boulders
  • Timing: 40 minutes to 1.5 hours, depending on your fitness level and photo opportunities
  • Climb: 500-550 meters
  • Elevation: 2,200-2,700 meters

Facilities:

In the off-season, cafés and bars are closed, so be sure to bring your own water. At the top of the hill, you’ll find an artificial pond created for snowmaking. While we haven’t tried swimming there, a wakeboarding station is set to open next summer—fingers crossed!
