It was a great idea to head to the glacier, starting at 3 am, to make sure we caught the sunrise on the Sabertse Pass and admire the shifting colors of the sky.
And that’s exactly what happened. We caught a stream of Perseids and got spooked by the darkness and our own shadows. Walking with headlamps was its own kind of rare fun.
We made coffee at the pass, shivered a bit in the cold, and finally saw Kazbek bathed in the morning sunlight. It was a fantastic experience—definitely worth repeating regularly.
